Women's Institute Poster

We are a lively expanding group of 50 plus members of all ages and persuasions!

We meet on the third Wednesday of every month at 7.30pm at the Church Hall, Pilgrims Way.

Come and give us a try. Visit up to four times for only £3 an evening, which will include tea/coffee and famous W.I. cakes.

  • make new friends of members from Chew Stoke and neighbouring villages.
  • come on outings organized by our own group.
  • listen to speakers on a wide range of subjects.
  • try various craft taster sessions.
  • sample food cooked by expert cookery lecturers.
  • win flowers arranged by NAFAS qualified demonstrators.
  • tour our members “OPEN GARDENS” looking for ideas on our regular ‘Summer Cream Teas’ afternoon.
  • enter our own Members’ Show.
  • come and be part of our transformation into a modern W.I. that meets the needs of women of today.

We have even been featured on a BBC Interlude singing “Jerusalem”!

Have access to events and trips organised by the wider group in the Avon area. Take advantage of the added opportunities that the “Avon Federation” offers.

Explore the world with other members on superbly organized foreign holidays, to places even as distant as New Zealand (some husbands go too!).

The National Federation offers many other opportunities for members and even has its own “Denman College”. Participate in the high class and varied activities staying (all en –suite!) in a country house environment, with top class courses as varied as Arts, Crafts, Cookery, Opera, Belly-dancing, Holistic therapies, History, Rambling, Cruising, Massage, Calligraphy, Computer Skills, Tai Chi….. the variety is amazing!
