Parish of Chew Stoke

ScoutsScout Group

The 1st Chew Stoke Scout Group started in February 2011. Within 2 weeks we had almost 70 children, between the ages of 6 and 14, enjoying this new club.

The Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for 400,000 young people aged 6-25. Internationally, we have over 28 million young people enjoying the benefits of Scouting across 216 countries. Personal development means promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when

they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.

Beavers – For children aged 6-8 years, this section meets on Monday evenings 6pm-7pm at the Methodist Hall.

Cubs – For children aged 8-10½, this section meets on Tuesday evenings 6.30pm-8pm at the Methodist Hall.

Scouts – For children aged 10½-14, this section meets on Friday evenings 7.30pm-9.00pm at the Church Hall.

The response from parents has also been fantastic, with new leaders training alongside those with lots of experience in scouting.

If you or your child would like to get involved, please contact our cub leader via email: Paula.lovelady@btinternet.com or have a look at the scouting website for more information www.scouts.org.uk
